What Is Open Studio?
What does your child feel like creating today?
That's where we start.
Open Studio is a playful, hands-on after-school art experience where kids are given something they don't always get in a traditional art class:
Creative freedom.
Rather than everyone following the same step-by-step project, young artists get to explore different materials, follow their curiosity, and work on projects that genuinely interest THEM.
One child might be sculpting something out of clay while another is making a bracelet. Someone else might be sewing, painting a canvas, designing clothing, creating stickers, building something out of cardboard, or turning a completely random idea into ART.
And if they come back next week?
They can keep working on their masterpiece, or try something completely different!
That's the magic of Open Studio.
What Can We Make?
Depending on each child's interests and the materials available that day, kids may explore:
- Painting & drawing
- Clay & sculpture
- Beading & jewelry making
- Sewing & fabric art
- Wearable art & fashion design
- Sticker making
- Collage & mixed media
- Upcycled art
- Embroidery & embellishment
- Cardboard construction & 3D creations
- Creative crafts
- And whatever else we dream up!
Mandy will be there to help each child brainstorm, learn techniques, experiment with materials, solve creative problems, and figure out how to turn their idea into something real.
No Two Open Studios Have to Look the Same
There is no required five-week project and no need to attend every class.

Or make MandyLand part of your child's regular creative time with an 8-Class Creative Pass.
Kids who attend regularly can work on bigger, more involved projects over several classes, while drop-in students can choose projects that can be completed in one afternoon.
All Basic Supplies Are Included!
Paint, paper, drawing materials, clay, beads, fabric scraps, craft materials, and lots of wonderfully random creative supplies will be available for kids to explore.
For certain specialty projects—such as painting a specific pair of shoes, jean jacket, or other personal item—families may be asked to bring the item from home.
About Mandy
Led by Mandy Tardif, a local artist and creative mentor with 25 years of experience teaching kids, MandyLand Open Studio is designed to nurture creativity, confidence, curiosity, independence, and imagination.
Mandy believes kids don't always need another adult telling them exactly what their finished artwork is supposed to look like.
Sometimes they need someone to ask:
"What do YOU want to make?"
And then help them figure out how to make it.
Open Studio gives kids permission to experiment, change their minds, make mistakes, try something weird, get messy, solve problems, and discover their own creative voice.
