One-on-One & Two-on-One Creative Lessons
Does your child have something they REALLY want to learn or create?
At MandyLand Studio in Kailua, private art lessons are completely personalized around your child's interests, imagination, skill level, and creative goals.
Instead of following a predetermined curriculum, we start with:
"What would YOU love to learn or make?"
And we go from there!
Private Lesson Options
🎨 One-on-One Private Lesson
$75 • 75 minutes
Your child gets Mandy's full attention for a completely personalized creative session.
👯 Two-on-One Creative Lesson
$100 • 75 minutes ($50 per child)
Want to create with a friend? Sign up with your creative buddy! Two-on-one lessons are perfect for best friends, siblings, or two kiddos who want to create together while still receiving lots of personalized instruction.
Please note: Students must register with their own buddy for the 2:1 option. MandyLand does not pair individual students for private lessons.
Or, more playful and MandyLand-ish:
Grab your bestie, sibling, or favorite creative buddy and come make something together! The 2:1 option is booked as a pair, so you'll need to bring your own creative partner.
Basic art supplies are included.
Lessons are available weekdays after school and select weekends at MandyLand Studio in Kailua.

How Private Lessons Work
Private lessons aren't about Mandy choosing a project and having your child copy it.
They're about helping your child develop their own ideas and creative voice.
Maybe your child wants to learn how to use a sewing machine.
Maybe they have a jean jacket they desperately want to paint.
Maybe they're obsessed with drawing characters.
Maybe they want to make jewelry.
Maybe they have an elaborate idea they've been talking about for months but don't know how to actually MAKE it.
We'll start with their idea and Mandy will help them figure out the materials, techniques, and steps needed to bring it to life.
For larger projects, families can book multiple sessions so kids can continue developing their work over time.
🧵 Learn to Sew!
Because private lessons take place at MandyLand Studio, interested students can also learn beginner sewing skills using Mandy's sewing machine with close supervision.
Depending on the child's age and experience, we can explore:
- Sewing-machine basics
- Simple stitches
- Choosing fabrics
- Making small fabric projects
- Adding patches and embellishments
- Altering or decorating clothing
- Combining sewing with wearable art
No previous sewing experience is necessary.
All Basic Art Supplies Included
MandyLand Studio is filled with art materials and wonderfully random creative supplies for kids to explore!
Basic paints, drawing supplies, craft materials, fabric scraps, beads, clay, and other everyday materials are included.
For specialty projects—such as painting a specific jean jacket, pair of shoes, handbag, clothing item, or specialty materials—families may be asked to bring the item from home or cover the cost of special supplies.
About Mandy
Private lessons are led by Mandy Tardif, a local artist, art teacher, and creative mentor with 25 years of experience teaching kids.
Mandy believes art lessons can teach something much bigger than how to draw or paint.
They can help a child learn:
I have ideas.
My ideas matter.
I can figure things out.
I can make something that didn't exist before.
Private lessons give Mandy the opportunity to really get to know each young artist, encourage their individual strengths, and help them develop confidence in their own creative instincts.
There are no cookie-cutter projects here.
No need to be "good at art."
Just bring your ideas, your curiosity, and your imagination.
