Thank you for choosing me to create a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art for you! Every MandyLand commission is individually designed and painted by hand, which means your piece is truly original and created specifically for you.
This agreement is here to make sure we’re both clear on the vision, scope, pricing, process, timeline, care, and expectations for your commission before I begin. Please review the details of your commission and the terms below carefully. If you have any questions or would like clarification on anything, please reach out before signing and submitting your deposit.
Once your agreement is signed and your required deposit is received, your commission is officially booked and I can begin bringing your piece to life.

1. COMMISSION DETAILS & APPROVED ARTWORK

I understand that this agreement applies to the custom MandyLand Wearable Art™ commission described in my commission form, written communications, invoice, and/or approved artwork description. Before work begins, Mandy and I will agree on the general scope of the commission, including the item being painted, subject matter or design direction, approximate placement and coverage, and any specific details that are important to me.
I understand that any sketches, reference photographs, inspiration images, color ideas, or digital mockups are intended to establish the creative direction of the commission and are not guarantees of an exact finished appearance. Any element that is essential to my commission should be specifically communicated and included in the approved design or artwork description before painting begins. By approving the commission and submitting my deposit, I authorize Mandy to begin creating the artwork according to the agreed scope and the terms of this agreement.

2. ORIGINAL HANDMADE ARTWORK

I understand that I am commissioning an original, hand-painted piece of artwork by Mandy Tardif/MandyLand Wearable Art™.
Because every piece is created by hand, the finished artwork will not be an exact mechanical reproduction of sketches, inspiration photographs, digital mockups, or other artwork. I understand that small variations in color, brushwork, placement, texture, proportion, and detail are part of the handmade process and make each MandyLand piece unique.

3. ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION

I understand that reference and inspiration images communicate the general direction of my commission unless a specific element has been expressly included in the Approved Artwork Description. I give Mandy permission to make reasonable artistic decisions regarding composition, placement, color, scale, brushwork, and other creative details necessary to create a cohesive finished piece within the agreed scope.

4. CLIENT-PROVIDED ITEMS

If I am providing the item to be painted, I confirm that I own the item or have permission to have it customized. I understand that painting permanently alters the item. Different fabrics, finishes, dyes, leather, synthetic materials, vintage materials, previously treated surfaces, and used items may react differently to paints and preparation methods.
Mandy will use reasonable professional care when working on my item; however, I understand that the inherent condition, age, construction, previous treatment, or material of a client-provided item may affect the final result. I have disclosed any known damage, deterioration, previous customization, sentimental significance, or unusual condition of the item before work begins.

5. SENTIMENTAL OR IRREPLACEABLE ITEMS

I understand that commissioning artwork on a sentimental, vintage, valuable, or irreplaceable item involves additional risk because the artwork permanently changes the original item. I have informed Mandy if my item is sentimental or irreplaceable and voluntarily authorize her to perform the agreed artwork on it.

6. DESIGN CHANGES

The agreed price is based on the approved scope of the commission. Once the project has been approved and work has begun, significant changes to the design, coverage, subject matter, colors, or composition may require an additional fee and may affect the completion timeline. Some changes may not be possible once painting has begun. Any additional work requested beyond the original approved scope must be agreed upon before it is added to the commission.

7. COMMISSION DEPOSIT — 50% DUE TO BOOK
A 50% deposit of your agreed commission price is required to officially book your commission and reserve your place in my studio schedule. To complete your deposit:

8. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

Because custom commissions require planning, design development, reserved studio time, materials, and original creative work, the deposit becomes non-refundable once design development or work on the commission has begun. Once painting has begun, payments made toward completed custom work are non-refundable. If Mandy is unable to complete the commission, any payment attributable to work that has not been performed will be handled appropriately based on the circumstances.

9. TIMELINE

Any completion date provided is an estimate unless Mandy has expressly agreed in writing to a guaranteed deadline. Custom artwork requires painting, layering, drying, curing, finishing, and sometimes unexpected additional studio time. Mandy will make reasonable efforts to complete the commission within the estimated timeframe and will communicate significant changes when necessary.

10. CARE OF YOUR ARTWORK

The client is responsible for following any care instructions provided with the finished piece. Hand-painted wearable artwork should be treated as original artwork. Depending on the item and materials, special washing, cleaning, storage, or handling instructions may apply. Mandy cannot be responsible for damage caused by improper washing, cleaning products, dryers, excessive heat, abrasion, misuse, alterations, normal wear and tear, or failure to follow the provided care instructions.

11. SHIPPING

When shipping is required, the client is responsible for agreed shipping charges unless otherwise stated. The client is responsible for providing an accurate shipping address. Any shipping arrangements, insurance, tracking, or special handling requirements will be communicated before shipment.

12. ARTWORK & COPYRIGHT

Purchasing a MandyLand commission gives the client ownership of the physical customized item, but does not automatically transfer copyright or other intellectual-property rights in Mandy's original artwork or design. Unless otherwise indicated in the client's Social Media & Privacy Preference, Mandy retains the right to photograph and reproduce images of her original artwork for her portfolio, website, social media, marketing, exhibitions, educational materials, and other promotional purposes. Client names, photographs, social media accounts, or other identifying information will only be shared according to the client's selected privacy preference. The client may photograph, wear, display, enjoy, and share their finished piece for personal use. Commercial reproduction, manufacturing, merchandising, or reproduction of Mandy's original artwork requires separate written permission.

13. FINAL APPROVAL & CLIENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By signing below, I confirm that:

I have reviewed and approved the Approved Artwork Description.
I understand the scope and price of my commission.
I understand that I am commissioning original, hand-painted artwork and that reasonable artistic variations are part of the handmade process.
I authorize Mandy Tardif / MandyLand Wearable Art™ to permanently customize the item described in this agreement.
I have read and understand the payment, cancellation, timeline, design-change, care, shipping, and artwork/copyright terms of this agreement.
I understand that significant changes requested after work has begun may require additional fees and may not always be possible.
I have had the opportunity to ask questions before signing.
I confirm that I have submitted the agreed 50% commission deposit.
